Sea Monkeys

Sea Monkeys are a variant of brine shrimp, a species which enters cryptobiosis, a natural state of suspended animation, allowing their cysts (dormant saclike embryos) to be distributed and sold as a dry powder. When the "powder" is poured into saltwater, the Sea-Monkeys start to come out of their cysts. They can stay in the state of suspended animation for up to 50 years.

I find this so fascinating!
